After working with clients for many years, we wanted to take our own product to market to get a better idea for the challenges they faced. The aim was to invent a successful consumer product brand that would expose us to all elements of product design, development and commercialisation from design and intellectual property, to engineering and manufacture, from operations and stock control to promotion and national/international sales.
The logo ball was designed as the prefect lounging solution for young people going for a retro look and simple functionality. After toying with the design, 16 prototypes were made which we used to conduct market research with young professionals and students. We came up with 4 designs and manufactured 200 of each, which we showcased in Tent London during London Design week. The response was fantastic.
We invented, developed, manufactured and patented a totally unique and multi-award winning seating solution, the LoJo Ball, which gained international acclaim and coverage. Apart from achieving the primary aim of experiencing first-hand what it is to take an idea to market, we secured relationships with various, well-known retailers such as Selfridges, John Lewis, Amazon and I Want One of Those, international distibution and agents in over six countries and even managed to make a profit. This experience ultimately lead to the re-directing of Bang Creations to help businesses and individuals take products to market.
