Spencer Turner knows a lot about what happens when a gas turns from a liquid to a solid. He approached us to take his concept of creating an electric current sufficient to charge a phone or tablet when burning liquid butane gas whilst cooking on a camp stove.
Product: Teg Stove
Client: Spencer Turner
When the gas changes state there is a change of temperature. The canister gets very cold and teh gas is burnt and is very hot. Using this differential across a Thermal Electric Generator (TEG) you can create an electric current. We decided it best to charge a battery on the stove itself so when you need extra charge – you have it to hand as a result of cooking. We decided to make the product house the canister and replicate the sign for "camp fire" three crossed logs and use these as the legs.
We needed the product to look technical yet practical. It had to represent camping and living outdoors. Make it look like the most tech stove we could. We decided to make the product house the canister and replicate the sign for 'camp fire' three crossed logs and use these as the legs.
Spencer managed to get three Dragons pitching for a stake in his business on Dragon's Den. He sold a stake to Peter Jones and through Bang Creations Asia we engineered and now manufacturing the Teg Stove. It has already received pre orders in major retailers nationally and significant interest globally. Coming to market this summer.
