DVD QUIZ GAME:
PRODUCT DESIGN, INNOVATION AND MANUFACTURE

THE BRIEF

To design an existing software program into a marketable game and have at least 50 thousand units available in six months. The software should allow up to four players to play an interactive DVD quiz game. The hardware should be easy to use and must fit into a DVD case.

THE CHALLENGE

To lower the cost price by 50% without changing the chip in the game console, and to design the unit to be comfortable to handle while enabling it to fit into a DVD case.

THE BANG

Designing the electronics to fit into a sleek, simple and easy to use consol. Negotiating a cheaper price for the Motorola chip set enabled us to reduce manufacturing costs.

THE RESULT

A fully designed, engineered, costed and prototyped product that secured an order from Channel 4 for 200 thousand units. The entire project, from initial development to receipt of the first products in the UK, took just six months.
